What was our initial plan?
We at The Pure Hands Foundation were initially raising money to purchase a brand-new Toyota HiAce ambulance that would be sent into Gaza. We were informed by our extended network on the ground in Egypt that there was an urgent requirement for an ambulance to assist with medical needs on the ground in Gaza.
What happened since then?
As most are aware, the continual genocide that took place in Palestine destroyed critical infrastructure and as a result there was a shortage of medical equipment of all types. Although many ambulances were sent over from various countries, the issue was that they were stuck at different borders due to registration and customs issues.
Subsequently, we made the decision not to purchase an ambulance because we could not be confident it would ever reach Gaza in these circumstances. The logistics of acquiring items/goods in Gaza or transporting goods across the border was extremely challenging. Due to these challenges we did not want to risk your donations without being sure the ambulance would reach its destination.
The Pure Hands Foundation firmly believes in transparency and we believe it is our duty to make sure all monies raised for any project are distributed correctly and they reach the people that need it the most!
What will happen next?
The good news is that finally there has been a ceasefire in Palestine and we have been actively liaising with various charities and organisations on the ground in Palestine and surrounding countries. We endeavour to find an appropriate cause to spend your donations on in the next few months and we will keep you updated every step of the way.
